Gieselman Earns Second Straight Conferece Player of the Week Honor
ANNVILLE, Pa. - For the sixth time in her career and second time in as many weeks, Stevenson women's volleyball senior Jessica Gieselman (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) earned player of the week honors after being named Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week Monday.
Stevenson (14-0) has won all three player of the week selections this season as Gieselman earned the honor on September 9 and sophomore Imani Hudson (Burke, Va./Thomas Edison) on September 3.
The Mustangs went 5-0 last week which included a conference win over Albright . The Mustangs have dropped only one set this season and are one win away from tying the school-record for best start to a season. Last season, they set a school-record with 20 consecutive victories.
Gieselman was named to her second-straight All-Tournament Team and was named Most Valuable Player at the Garnet Classic hosted by Swarthmore this weekend as the Mustangs finished first. It was her eighth career all-tournament honor.
Gieselman had 182 assists in five games and 16 sets, an average of 11.38 per set, while also averaging 2.38 digs per set and totaling 25 kills, 13 blocks and two service aces. She tied her career-high with five blocks against Johns Vassar and a season-high 43 assists in a four-set win over Swarthmore.
Stevenson looks to extend its winning streak on Thursday, when they host a Commonwealth Conference contest with Messiah beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Mustangs set a school record in 2008 with 15-straight victories to open a season.
