LEXINGTON, Ky. - After being ranked for the first time in its 19-year history a week ago, the Stevenson women's volleyball team moved up three spots this week in the latest AVCA Division III Coaches National Poll as the Mustangs were placed at No. 22.
The Mustangs (14-0) have started the season unbeaten, and are one win away from tying the school record for best start to a season. The 2008 team started the season 15-0. They have won 30 of their last 31 matches dating back to Sept. 28, 2012.
Stevenson set a school-record last season with 36 victories en route to their second-straight NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship.
Two opponents from Stevenson's 2013 schedule are also listed in this week's poll as Eastern is ranked at No. 16 while Christopher Newport came in at No. 17. The Mustangs will face Eastern on October 5 in the MAC Crossover and Christopher Newport on November 2 in a tri-match at Marymount (Va.).
Stevenson returns to action on Thursday, September 19 when they host a Commonwealth Conference contest against Messiah. The Mustangs defeated the Falcons in the Commonwealth Conference Championship game last season, 3-0. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
