LEXINGTON, Ky. – Stevenson University women's volleyball sophomore outside hitter Katie Leftridge was named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III Player of the Week Tuesday afternoon.
Leftridge becomes the second Stevenson women's volleyball player to earn the honor. Megan Miller took home the award on October 2, 2012.
Leftridge, who on Monday was named the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week, led the Mustangs to a 4-0 week as they extended their win streak to 10 matches. For the week, Leftridge hit .417 and totaled 52 kills (4.0 kps) and 47 digs (3.62 dps) and posted a pair of double-doubles.
In a 3-0 sweep of No. 12 Juniata Saturday, Leftridge hit .500 with 13 kills, eight digs and a pair of blocks, while earlier Saturday, she had 18 kills on .567 hitting and 13 digs in a 3-1 win over Washington and Lee to finish the tri-match with 31 kills and just two errors. On Tuesday, Leftridge totaled 12 kills and 14 digs in a 3-0 win over Elizabethtown.
On the season, Leftridge has totaled 198 kills, 213 digs and 28 blocks while hitting at a .258 clip. She has posted five double-doubles on the season.
Stevenson, 22-1 overall and 5-0 in MAC Commonwealth play, returns to action Tuesday night at Albright College for a 7:00 MAC conference contest.
