ANNVILLE, Pa. – Senior outside hitter Annika Schwartz of the Stevenson University women's volleyball team was named the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week Monday afternoon. It marks the third time this season that Schwartz has won the award.
In a 4-0 week for the 25th-ranked Mustangs, Schwartz totaled 47 kills (3.36 kps), 43 digs (3.07 dps), 10 service aces and six blocks. She had three double-doubles on the week, beginning with 11 kills and 10 digs in a 3-1 win over No. 16 Johns Hopkins Thursday. She followed that up with 11 kills and 12 digs in a 3-1 win over Stockton Saturday, then hit .462 with 14 kills and 12 digs in a sweep at Rowan.
On the season, Schwartz leads the Mustangs with 298 kills while hitting at .295. She also has 259 digs, 54 service aces and 37 blocks for Stevenson, which is currently on a 15-match win streak.
Stevenson returns to action Tuesday night when it hosts Alvernia for Senior Night in a 7:00 contest at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
