Villa Women Take 15th in 19
Gettysburg, PA- The Villa Julie women's cross country team finished in 15th place in the 19-team field at the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday. The University of St. Thomas won the women's team competition placing five runners in the top ten.
Lindsay Koepper (White Hall , MD / N. Harford) was the Mustangs' top-finisher. She completed the six-kilometer course in 25:03.94, good enough for 49th place in the 192-runner field. Kristina Bolard (Sykesville, MD / Century) was the only other Villa runner to finish in the top 100. She turned in a time of 26:07.6.
Johns Hopkins' freshman, Laura Paulsen , handily won the women's race with a mark of 22:17.52. She crossed the finish line nearly 42 seconds before St. Thomas ' Katie Theisen.
On the men's side, sophomore Joe Spurrier (Mt. Airy , MD / Glenelg) finished in 147th place in a field of 208 runners. He clocked a 30:02.67. The Mustangs' other entry, Phil Harkins, finished in 206th place in 38:34.69. The Mustangs were not considered in the men's team scoring. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy's Mike Flint edged out Loyola's Chris Heibell for the win. Flint logged a time of 25:42.27.
