Bekier Leads Women at Salisbury's Cathcart Invitational

SALISBURY, Md. - Stevenson women's cross country sophomore Julie Bekier (Baltimore/Greater Grace Christian Academy) was the Mustangs' top finisher for the second consecutive race as the team finished 10th out of 12 teams at the 6K Don Cathcart Invitational on Saturday.
Bekier crossed the line in 54th out of 108 participants with a time of 25:39, just one second behind Salisbury's Cora Barstow and only three off of Emily Haws of Division II East Stroudsburg. It was the second-straight race in which Bekier was the top finisher for Stevenson.
Freshman Meghan Najewicz (Baltimore/Perry Hall) was the next to cross the line for the Mustangs as she finished 61st in 26:02.
Senior Brooke Witherow (Berlin/Stephen Decatur) placed 75th in 27:19 while junior Lauren Redding (Bel Air/C. Milton Wright) was 87th and sophomore Aubrey Schneider (Edgewater/St. Mary's) was 92nd in her second collegiate race.
Stevenson will travel to Wilmington, Delaware next Saturday for the Goldey Beacom Invitational.
