THURMONT, Md. - Stevenson women's cross country senior Shannon Henretty (Marriottsville, Md./Liberty) ran a time of 25:34 to take 11th place at the Hood College Open held at Utica Park on Saturday. The Mustangs finished in fifth place as team with a score of 101, 24 behind host Hood.
Junior Jill Benko (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) finished 33 seconds behind Henretty to take 17th place overall. Senior Mary Kate Lutz (Hanover, Pa./Delone Catholic) and sophomore Lanie Swanhart (Mount Airy, Md./Glenelg) finished eight seconds apart with the times of 26:44 and 26:52 to take 24th and 28th place, respectively.
Senior Maria Rose Zambuto (Conowingo, Md./Perryville) ran a 28:21 to round out the scoring for the Mustangs. Sophomore Mary Katheryn Edens (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) and freshman Sydney Tyler (Frederick, Md./Middletown) finished the 6K course with times of 30:52 and 33:52, respectively.
Gettysburg won the team title with a score of 53, five ahead of Elizabethtown. Melissa Teeple of Marymount was the first to cross the line with a time of 23:59.
The Mustangs will be in Center Valley, Pa. on November 2 when they compete in the 2013 Middle Atlantic Conference Cross Country Championships hosted by DeSales University.
