Michael Babe

Former Atholton High School cross country coach and 2008
Baltimore Metro Coach of the Year Michael Babe takes over as the
new head cross country coach at Stevenson in 2009, replacing Jess
Ramer.
Babe, who is USA Track and Field level one certified, was also
head coach of the Raiders' indoor and outdoor track and field teams
while serving as a spanish teacher where he received the New
Teacher of the Year award.
As the cross country coach at Atholton, Babe led the boys to the
Maryland 3A state championship in 2008 as well as the 3A regional
and Howard County crowns. The Raiders, who also advanced to the
state finals in 2007, finished the year as the number one ranked
high school team in Baltimore.
On the track, Babe also led the boys to a number one ranking as the
Raiders were ranked No. 1 by the Baltimore Sun in 2009 after
finishing second at the 3A region and state championships.
While at Atholton, Babe had the pleasure of working with world
renowned paralympian Tatyana McFadden. McFadden won a silver and
bronze medal at the 2004 Paralympics in Athens, Greece and three
silvers and one bronze at the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing,
China.
Babe also coached Graham Bazzell who was the Maryland 3A state
champion and All-American at the Nike Outdoor Nationals in 2009. He
also was a two-time indoor state champion and three-time outdoor
state champion.
Babe is a 2007 graduate of Towson where he graduate magna cum laude
with a bachelor of arts in spanish education. He is currently
working on his master's in curriculum and instruction with a
concentration in administration from McDaniel.
Babe, who is an active participant in road races including the
Baltimore Marathon, Annapolis 10 and Baltimore 10 Mile Race,
currently lives in Baltimore.

Jill Wienecke

Wienecke brings three years of teaching and coaching experience
to Stevenson in 2009 where she begins her first season as an
assistant cross country coach.
Most recently, Wienecke has served as an assistant girls' lacrosse
coach at Catonsville High School where the Comets won back-to-back
regional championships in 2007 and 2008. They also won a county
title in 2008 and advanced to the state finals a year after playing
in the semifinals.
Wienecke also serves as a school counselor at Catonsville and
received her masters in education with a specialization in
professional school counseling from Loyola in 2007.
In 2006, she was an assistant girls' lacrosse coach at her alma
mater, Towson High School, where the Generals also won a regional
and county championship and advanced to the state finals.
A 2005 graduate of Hofstra with a bachelor of arts degree in
psychology and a minor in sociology, Wienecke played four seasons
for the Pride's women's lacrosse team where she was a four-year
academic scholar-athlete and a two-time Dean's List honoree. She
was also a member of the IWLCA All-Academic Team and CAA Academic
Honor Roll in 2005.
At Towson, Wienecke played four years of lacrosse and soccer and
participated in track for three. She was named Female Athlete of
the Year as a senior while earning All-Metro honors in
lacrosse.
Wienecke currently lives in Baltimore.
