OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson University will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the start of NCAA athletics at Stevenson/Villa Julie College in 2019-20 with a yearlong celebration.
"We are honored to be able to celebrate the 25th anniversary of NCAA athletics here at Stevenson in 2019-20," said Director of Athletics Brett Adams. "The growth of athletics since Villa Julie joined the NCAA in 1994-95 has been remarkable, and it is exciting to be able to recognize and honor the thousands of student-athletes who have worn the Mustang uniform, along with everyone who has had a hand in making the program what it is today."
One of the centerpieces of the 25th Anniversary celebration will be the selection of 25th Anniversary teams for each varsity sport at Stevenson, recognizing some of the top Mustang student-athletes through the first quarter century. A list of influential people in the growth of athletics, as well as a list of memorable moments, will also be released throughout the year.
In addition, a 25th Anniversary logo has been developed by Stevenson's Office of Marketing and Digital Communications, and games and performances of note will be featured with a "This Week in Mustang History" feature on social media.
Since joining the NCAA, Stevenson/Villa Julie teams have won 46 conference championships, made 43 NCAA Tournament appearances, and produced 115 All-Americans. The men's lacrosse team won the NCAA Division III national championship in 2013. Stevenson currently offers 27 NCAA Division III sports and is routinely one of the most successful programs in the Middle Atlantic Conference and the region.
