ANNVILLE, Pa. - Stevenson field hockey senior Sara McVey was named to the 2018 Fall Academic All-MAC Team announced by the league on Tuesday. She is just the second player in program history to be named to the award that began in 2013, joining Caitlin Dempsey '15, a two-time honoree.
The Academic All-MAC teams are based off semester grade-point averages (GPA) for the semester of their championship season. The minimum GPA required is a 3.20, and the student-athlete must remain an eligible member of the team through the conclusion of the season. Voting for this award will be based on 50% academic excellence and 50% athletic prowess by the conference sports information directors.
McVey, an early childhood education major, was named to the All-MAC Commonwealth First Team, her third consecutive all-conference selection. She started in all 17 games and led the team with 32 points, 14 goals and five game-winning goals. McVey, a 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III South Atlantic All-Region Second Team selection, also ranked second with four assists. The senior scored at least two goals in four games, including a hat trick in a win versus Gettysburg.
