HERSHEY, Pa. – The Stevenson University men's golf team seeks to capture its second straight MAC Commonwealth championship as the conference holds its annual championship tournament Saturday and Sunday at Hershey Country Club East. 2017 marks the eighth straight year HCC has hosted the championship.
Admission to the championship is free. However, spectators will need a wristband to be permitted on the course. Wristbands can be obtained upon check-in at championship headquarters in front of the clubhouse by the putting green and the 18th green. Parking is available on site next to the club house and driving range. Pairings, results, recaps and photos can be followed on the championship central page during the championship.
On Saturday, April 29 the championship will begin at 12 p.m. with the opening round. The MAC Commonwealth field will tee off at hole one (front nine). Day one pairings are available at the Championship Central page. The second round will tee off Sunday at 8 am, with MAC Commonwealth competitors teeing off on hole 10.
Last season, the Mustangs captured the title with a two-round score of 634, finishing 10 shots ahead of Lebanon Valley. The title marked Stevenson's second MAC Commonwealth crown, as it also finished first in 2013.
Stevenson has been led by freshman Andrew Wally and junior Austin Fuglestad. Wally has seven top-10 finishes in 12 events, including four top fives, and is averaging a 75.3, including a low round of 69. Fuglestad has three top 10s and is averaging 78.5 over 20 rounds. As a team, the Mustangs have shot below 300 five times.
This weekend's winner earns an automatic berth into the 2017 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship, which takes place May 16-19 at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, located just outside Orlando.
