HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Stevenson men's golf team sits just six strokes back of first-place McDaniel after the opening round of the Tom Kinder Memorial, held at the Lakeview Golf Club. The Mustangs are currently tied for fifth with a team score of 296 (+8).
Seniors Matthew Shur and Tyler Slusarczyk both finished the day tied for 13th after carding scores of 73 (+1). Shur's score matches his season-low.
Senior Matthew Maione and sophomore Will Ford bettered their season-best scores by two strokes with 75's.
Sophomore Shane Angle matched his season-low with a 77.
Hunter Shelton of Ferrum College leads the field by two strokes after carding a three-under par 69.
The second and final round tees off at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17.
