HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Stevenson men's golf team finished tied for fourth out of 17 schools at the Tom Kinder Memorial, held at the Lakeview Golf Club. The Mustangs, who ended the tournament with a two-day score of 593 (+17), finished just nine strokes back of first-place McDaniel.
Sophomore Will Ford fired a season-low score of 70 (-2), putting him at 1-over par for the tournament and into 10th place overall. Ford has finished in the top 10 in each of the first two tournaments this season.
Senior Matthew Shur carded a 75 in the final round for a two-day total of 148 (+4), placing him into a tie for 18th out of 88 competitors.
Senior Tyler Slusarczyk shot a four-over par 76 in the final round, giving him a combined score of 149 (+5).
Senior Matthew Maione finished the tournament at +7 after shooting a four-over par 76 in the second round.
Sophomore Shane Angle ended the tournament at +13.
Alex Rubina of Hampden-Sydney, who shot at even par in the opening round, carded a four-under par 68 in the final round to take the tournament.
The Mustangs compete next on Monday, September 23 at the Dickinson Fall Invitational, held at the Carlisle Barracks Golf Club. Tee time is set for 1:00 p.m.
