DEN HAAG, Netherlands - After spending last season with the Knoxville Ice Bears in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL), Stevenson men's ice hockey alum Doug Rose signed with Cairox Hijs Hokij in Netherlands.
Rose, who was originally drafted by the Macon Mayhem, was named to the All-Rookie Team as well as the All-SPHL Second Team in his first full season in the SPHL. He finished as the second highest scoring defensemen with 34 points, netting nine goals and 25 assists.
Head coach Chris Eimers said, "After the loss of Jurryt Smid we went looking for a replacement. In the end it was our priority to also provide the defense with offensive impulses. So we went to look at an attacking defender, Rose meets this image. He is a complete player who understands when to go on the attack and stay in the back."
Rose will wear number 70, the same number he wore for his two seasons with the Mustangs.
