OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Three members of the Stevenson University men's lacrosse team were honored as the 2019 USILA Division III All-America team was released Thursday morning. Stevenson has now had a total of 83 All-America selections, with all 80 coming since 2008.
Christensen, the MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Year, led the Mustang offense with 43 goals and 39 assists for 82 points. He was a three-time MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week selection and was also MVP of the MAC Commonwealth Championship. Christensen led Stevenson in scoring five times, recorded 13 multi-goal games and led the Mustangs in assists on 10 occasions.
DeFazio, a MAC Commonwealth First Team selection, led the Mustangs with 40 caused turnovers on the season while also picking up 69 ground balls, second on the team. He was a two-time MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week and wrapped up his career as Stevenson's all-time leader in career caused turnovers with 142.
Thelen, also a First Team All-Conference performer, finished the season with 59 goals and 14 assists for 73 points. He totaled 13 multi-goal games and led Stevenson in scoring six times, including matching his own program record with nine goals in a win against Albright. Thelen finished his career with 192 goals and 75 assists for 267 points, ending as the program leader in career goals and ranking fourth in career points.
Stevenson made its 11th straight NCAA appearance, reaching the Third Round, and won its seventh straight MAC Commonwealth Championship in 2019.
