Medtart Scores Lone Goal, Mustangs Extend Win Streak to Four

IMMACULATA, Pa. - Despite a two hour and 40 minute rain and lightning delay, the Stevenson men's soccer team was able to extend its winning streak to four games as junior DR Medtart scored the game's lone goal in the 77th minute in a 1-0 non-conference victory over Immaculata Wednesday evening at Draper Walsh Stadium.

  • The Mustangs (6-3) recorded the first two shots of the game, both shots on goal by Medtart, before play was halted in the ninth minute.
  • Following the delay, Stevenson earned an early corner kick that was taken by Medtart and served to freshman Diego Guerrero but Mikey Kalpokas collected his third save of the game.
  • Freshman goaltender Matt Stellitano saw his first action of the night in the 14th minute, making a stop on the Mighty Macs (4-6-1) first shot of the game.
  • Both teams had shots late in the opening half, but both were not on frame, including an Immaculata shot that was blocked in the 44th minute.

  • In the 51st minute, sophomore Dylan Holy was looking for his fifth goal of the season as his header off a free kick was saved by Kalpokas.
  • Down the other end, Stellitano did his part in keeping the game scoreless with a save following a rebound attempt off a blocked shot.
  • Midway through the second half, the Mighty Macs had three consecutive corner kicks but recorded just one shot that hit off the post.
  • Medtart broke open the game with a free kick from the top of the 18-yard box that went over the wall and into the top right corner of the net.
  • Following the goal, the Mustangs recorded the only five shots on goal the rest of the way, including a shot by sophomore Tariq Lee in the final seconds.

  • Stevenson outshot Immaculata, 23-13 while the Mighty Macs held a, 9-6, advantage in corner kicks.
  • It is the first goal of the season for Medtart who leads the team with five assists.
  • Stellitano finished with seven saves to post his third shutout of the season.
  • It is the fifth shutout victory for the Mustangs this season.

  • Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, September 29 when the Mustangs host a MAC Commonwealth contest versus Arcadia beginning at 5:00 p.m.
