KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A day after being named the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week, Stevenson men's soccer freshman Matt Stellitano was named the United Soccer Coaches Division Men's Player of the Week announced on Tuesday.
Stellitano led the Mustangs to a 2-0 week after totaling 15 saves and allowed just one goal in 183:35. The rookie goalkeeper opened the week with seven saves in a 1-0 road win at Immaculata for his third career shutout. Stellitano then recorded eight saves in a 2-1 overtime win versus Arcadia in the conference opener.
Over his last five starts, Stellitano has posted a 0.44 goals against average and 91.3 save percentage. This season, he has recorded a 0.93 goals against average and an 83.3 save percentage.
Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, October 3 when the Mustangs host top-ranked and defending National Champions, Messiah, in a MAC Commonwealth contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
