Lee Scores Twice in Mustangs Win Over Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, Va. - Stevenson men's soccer junior Tariq Lee found the back of the net twice while senior DR Medtart netted his first goal of the season as the Mustangs posted a 3-1 non-conference victory over Shenandoah Saturday afternoon at Sprint Field.

  • On the third shot of the game for the Mustangs (3-0-1), Medtart put the ball in the back of the net to give the visitors a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute. Junior Jay Smith picked up the assist.
  • Lee doubled the lead with an unassisted tally in the 23rd minute on the next shot of the game by Stevenson.
  • The Hornets (2-2-0) managed just three shots in the half, none of them on net.

  • Shenandoah got on the board with the first shot of the second half, finding the back of the net in the 52nd minute.
  • Medtart looked to push the Mustangs lead back to two but his shot off a corner kick went wide right.
  • Lee got his second of the day in the 73rd minute on an assist from sophomore Dale Boring.
  • The hosts managed two more shots in the game but both were high.

  • Stevenson outshot Shenandoah, 13-7, including 4-1 on net.
  • It is the second career multi-goal game for Lee, who also netted two goals in the ECAC First Round victory a season ago.
  • Smith has a point in three of the team's four games to start the season.
  • It is the first time since 2010 the Mustangs have started unbeaten in their first four games.

  • Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, September 11 when the Mustangs host a non-conference contest versus Gettysburg beginning at 7:00 p.m.
