Mustangs Post Fourth Consecutive Win With 2-0 Victory at Wesley

DOVER, Del. - Stevenson men's soccer sophomore Alex Morales netted his fourth goal of the season while classmate Dale Boring found the back of the net for the second time as the Mustangs posted their fourth straight win with a 2-0 non-conference victory over Wesley Wednesday evening.

  • The Wolverines (5-4-1) recorded the first shot of the game in the third minute that was saved by sophomore Matt Stellitano before the Mustangs (7-2-2) answered with the next six shots.
  • Junior Pete Wickiser put two shots of frame that were both saved by Jason Sommer in the opening 10 minutes.
  • A long free kick by senior DR Medtart found the feet of Boring who had his shot blocked out to the top of the box before Morales fired home a rebound with a low shot inside the left post.
  • Wesley recorded its second shot in the 40th minute, firing it on net but Stellitano kept the visitors lead at one.

  • The hosts carried the early momentum, recording a pair of shots on net in the opening five minutes.
  • The teams traded shots before junior Jay Smith headed a shot on target off a corner kick by Morales.
  • In the 68th minute, Boring was left unmarked and carried the ball to the top of the box where he bent in a right footed shot to double the Mustangs lead.
  • Stellitano preserved the shutout with three saves in the final 10 minutes of the game.

  • Stevenson outshot Wesley, 14-11, including 7-2 in the first half.
  • Stellitano finished with nine saves for his fourth consecutive shutout.

  • Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, October 5 when the Mustangs host a MAC Commonwealth contest versus Albright beginning at 7:30 p.m.
