Men's Tennis Sweeps Doubles Matches, Defeats Frostburg State

STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson men's tennis team swept the doubles matches en route to an 8-1 home victory against non-conference opponent Frostburg State. 

Senior Wornden Ly opened up the day with an 8-5 win in No. 1 doubles alongside sophomore Ray McDermott. Later in the day, Ly dominated in his No. 2 singles match by a 6-0, 6-1 score.

Juniors Alex Kiblin and Peter Appiah Jr. cruised to an 8-3 win in No. 2 doubles. Appiah would follow that up with an exciting 7-6 (7-2), 6-7 (4-7), 1-0 victory in No. 5 singles.

Juniors Andrew Ryan and Douglas Vaughan picked up a dominating 8-1 victory in No. 3 doubles. Ryan would then go on to win his No. 4 singles match by a 6-1, 6-1 score, while Vaughan defeated his No. 3 singles opponent in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.

The other singles victory came from freshman Richie Abruscato who picked up his first collegiate win in his No. 6 matchup, 6-0, 6-1. 

The Mustangs (1-1, 0-0) hit the courts next at the three-day ITA Regional Tournament, hosted by Mary Washington starting on Friday, September 29.
