STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson men's tennis team improved its record to 9-0 after defeating Lycoming by a 9-0 score in a MAC Commonwealth match at the Greenspring Tennis Courts. The Mustangs, as a team, surrendered just two points to the visiting Warriors.
Juniors Ray McDermott and Drew Ryan improved their doubles record to 5-1 after winning their No. 1 match by an 8-0 score. Junior Andre Sturniolo and senior Douglas Vaughan won their sixth straight in an 8-1 win in No. 2. Stevenson won the other doubles match by forfeit.
In singles play, McDermott picked up his sixth win on the year in a dominating 6-0, 6-0 performance in No. 1. Sturniolo earned his ninth singles win after taking down his No. 2 opponent in a 6-0, 6-1 effort.
Ryan and Vaughan shutout their No. 3 and No. 4 opponents in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Ryan has won his last six matches and has 10 total wins on the season. With the win, Vaughan is now 9-3 on the year.
Senior Wornden Ly picked up another 6-0, 6-0 victory for the Mustangs in his No. 5 match, which upped his record to 4-3. Stevenson won the No. 6 match via forfeit.
The Mustangs (9-0, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth) take on McDaniel in a non-conference showdown at the Greenspring Tennis Courts on Sunday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m.
