OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson University men's tennis team is the No. 1 seed in this week's MAC Commonwealth Men's Tennis Championship and will play host to fourth-seeded Arcadia on Tuesday, April 30 at 3:30 pm at the tennis courts on the Greenspring campus. - Stevenson (14-2, 6-0 MAC Commonwealth) captured its first MAC Commonwealth regular season championship and finished unbeaten in conference play for the first time.
- The Mustangs downed Alvernia 9-0 on Saturday, then fell 8-1 to Harford Community College on Senior Day in a match that does not affect Stevenson's overall record.
- Ray McDermott is 9-4 at No. 1 singles, while Andre Sturniolo has gone 9-3 at No. 2.
- Stevenson is 75-21 in dual match singles action this season.
- In doubles, Drew Ryan and McDermott have gone 10-3 at No. 1. Sturniolo and Douglas Vaughan are 12-2.
- Stevenson has qualified for the MAC Commonwealth Championship each year it has been a member since 2014-15. That year, the Mustangs reached the final, falling to Messiah 5-1.
- The Knights (7-11, 3-3) have won two straight and are coming off a 9-0 win over Lycoming Saturday.
- Arcadia moved from the MAC Freedom to the MAC Commonwealth in 2015-16 and has qualified for the conference tournament each season, reaching the final in 2015-16.
- Last season, the Knights fell to top-seeded Messiah 5-1.
- Stevenson posted an 8-1 win at Greenspring in the two teams' meeting in the regular season on April 13.
- The Mustangs swept all three doubles matchups to take a 3-0 lead, then prevailed in five of six singles contests.
