Belser Wins 100, Mustang 4x100 Sets School Record at AARTFC Championship

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Stevenson men's 4x100m relay team of seniors Morgan Cheatham, Kendall Belser, Malcolm Hayward and sophomore Dereck Davis set a new school record in the event with a blazing time of 41.41 (41.407) seconds, giving them second overall at the AARTFC Championship, hosted by SUNY Cortland. The Mustang squad finished just .001 seconds behind first-place Rowan. Stevenson's performance also moves them into a tie for 14th in Division III, putting them in position to qualify for the NCAA Championships (top-16 relays qualify for nationals). 

The Mustangs finished fourth out of 35 scoring teams with 50 points. 

Belser moved into NCAA-qualifying position after taking first in the 100m dash finals with a personal-best time of 10.65 seconds, putting him into a tie for 18th in Division III (top-20 individuals qualify). Davis, who finished third in the event with a 10.74, already has the 12th fastest time in Division III (10.61). 

Belser would also place second in the 200m dash with a time of 21.87 seconds.

Junior Iddriss Iddriss took first overall in the 800 with a season-best time of 1:52.58. Iddriss' time puts him just outside of the top-20 in Division III (24th). 

Sophomore Ritchie Case finished second overall in the decathlon with a school-record score of 6023. Highlights from day two include a first-place finish in the discus (33.90m), a second-place place finish in the 1500m (4:57.91 - personal best) and a third-place finish in the pole vault (3.60m). 

Brockport took the team title with 76.5 points.

The Mustangs have several athletes in line to qualify for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will take place in Geneva, Ohio starting on Thursday, May 23 through Saturday, May 25. Davis (12th) and Belser (tied for 18th) are in position to qualify in the 100m dash. The 4x100 relay team is currently tied for 14th in Division III after Thursday's performance. Junior Patrick Watson is currently tied for 17th in the 3000m Steeplechase (9:09.75). The final list of competitors will be released on Saturday, May 18 at 9:00 a.m. on
