ANNVILLE, Pa. - Sophomore Dereck Davis and juniors Iddriss Iddriss and Patrick Watson of the Stevenson men's outdoor track and field team were named to the Middle Atlantic Conference All-Academic Team Wednesday. Stevenson was one of just two schools with multiple selections to the 10-member team.
The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote for the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight on both academic success and athletic success. A student-athlete must have a spring semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher to be eligible for the award.
Davis, a Psychology major, competed at NCAA nationals in the 100-meter dash and finished 10th overall, missing qualifying for the final by .003 seconds. He placed second in the 100 meter dash at the MAC outdoor championship and was also a member of the Mustangs' winning 4x100 relay team. Davis was a USTFCCCA All-Region selection.
Iddriss, a Criminal Justice major, was a USTFCCCA All-Region performer in the 800 meter run and was the 800 champion at the conference meet. He also finished third in the 1500 and was on Stevenson's 4x800 relay team that placed fourth.
Watson, a Criminal Justice major, earned All-America honors at the NCAA Division III Championship, placing fifth overall in the 3000-meter steeplechase. He was USTFCCCA All-Region in both the steeplechase and the 5K. Watson was the MAC 5K champion and placed second in the 10K.
