Kesler Wins Shot Put, Patel and Ferguson Set School Records at Goucher Classic

TOWSON, Md. - The Stevenson men's track and field team took third place overall with 79 total points at the Goucher Track and Field Classic. Leading the way for the Mustangs was sophomore Travis Kesler, who won the shot put with a top throw of 12.97 meters.

Senior Nish Patel won the 10,000m run and also set a school record in the event with a time of 35:22.10, while junior Tom Ferguson set a school record with a time 11:13.74 in his 3000m steeplechase victory.

In the 4x100m relay, freshmen Adam Diabagate, Kyle Rudman, David Miles and junior Garrett Pegg took first place overall with a combined time of 45.13 seconds.

Rudman took third in the long jump with a top leap of 5.82m, while Diabagate took third in the triple jump with a hop, skip and jump of 12.00m. Sophomore Brandon Shepherd took fourth in both the triple and long jump with top leaps of 11.77m and 5.59m.

In the 200m dash, Rudman took fourth overall with a time of 23.50 seconds, while Diabagate took seventh with a 23.88.

Junior Grier Melick finished fourth overall in the 400m dash with a personal best time of 54.64, while junior Garrett Pegg took seventh in the finals of the 100m dash with a time of 11.80. 

The Mustangs continue their season at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational on Saturday, April 11th.
