MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - The Stevenson men's track and field team will be competing in the Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Messiah's Shoemaker Field beginning on Thursday, April 30.
Sophomore Devonte Williams leads the way for the Mustangs, looking to defend his conference titles in the 100 and 200 meter dash. Seeded second in the 100, Williams has a top time of 10.77 seconds, just .01 off of his school record time last spring. He is seeded fifth in the 200 with a season-best time of 21.96 seconds.
Williams has already qualified for the ECAC Outdoor Championships in both events.
Freshman Seun Omolana is also competing in the 100 meters where he ran a season-best time of 11.64 seconds.
In addition to Williams, junior Dalonte Simpson and freshman Kyle Rudman will be taking part in the 200 meters. Simpson and Rudman come into the meet with season-best times of 23.31 and 23.40 seconds, respectively.
The Mustangs will be bringing five jumpers to the conference championships, including senior Shane Skyers who currently holds the school record in the long and triple jump events with leaps of 6.45 and 13.01 meters, respectively.
Sophomore Brandon Shepherd, who has the team's best mark in the triple jump this season at 12.91 meters, will also be competing in both events.
Senior Nish Patel, who owns the school record in the 5,000 meters (16:09) and 10,000 meters (35:22.10), will be competing at the conference championship while freshman Travis Kesler, who has a top throw of 13.35 meters, will be competing in the shot put.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Omolana, Simpson, Rudman and freshman David Miles as well as the 4x400-meter relay team of Simpson, Rudman and juniors Grier Melick and Tom Ferguson will also be in action.
The competition begins on Thursday at 1:00 p.m., with the start of the men's decathlon. For more information on the meet, click on the Championship Central page of the MAC website here.
