LEXINGTON, Ky. - Stevenson men's volleyball team senior Landon Shorts and sophomore Nate Reynolds were selected as All-Americans by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) as announced by the organization on Monday morning.
The two players were the first Mustangs named as All-Americans since 2016 when Rob Wingert was selected.
Shorts a two-time Middle Atlantic Conference Player of the Year was the first Stevenson player to garner first-team honors. He finished the season leading the Mustangs in kills (352), kills per set (3.06), digs (228), and aces (80). Shorts ranked fourth nationally in aces per set with 0.696 and broke the NCAA All-Division service ace record on March 1, 2019, against Widener University when he posted ace number 256 breaking the previous record of 255 set by Evan Patak of UC Santa Barbara.
Reynolds was placed on the second-team after a strong sophomore season. He paced the Mustangs in blocks totaling 134 on the campaign, while adding 167 kills on a .397 attack percentage and chipping in 13 digs. Nationally his 1.276 blocks per set ranked him second. Reynolds posted a season-high 11 blocks in a 3-2 win over No. 14 Benedictine (Ill.) on January 20, 2019.
Stevenson who appeared in their second straight MAC Championship match but suffered a hard-fought five-set loss to top seed Arcadia University finished at 30-4 overall and 13-1 in Middle Atlantic Conference play.
