ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Stevenson University men's cross country team was selected to finish first at this week's Middle Atlantic Conference Championship as the conference released its pre-championship coaches' poll Tuesday. The Mustangs will host the championship on the Greenspring campus this Saturday, October 27, at noon.
The Mustangs garnered nine first place votes and 249 points to edge defending MAC champion Messiah, who picked up the other first place votes and 248 points. Eastern (219), DeSales (201) and Widener (199) make up the remainder of the top five, with 6-10 going to Lebanon Valley, Misericordia, Wilkes, King's (Pa.) and Manhattanville.
Stevenson is seeking its first MAC title in men's cross country. The Mustangs placed second a season ago behind Messiah, and have been climbing steadily, finishing sixth in 2015 and fifth in 2016. Messiah's title last season snapped a four-year run of championships by Widener.
