Storck Nets First Career Goal, Darosa Posts Shutout in 4-0 Win at NEC

HENNIKER, N.H. - Stevenson sophomore Casey Storck netted her first career goal while junior Jordan Pirrello finished with two goals and one assist as the Mustangs posted a 4-0 non-conference victory over New England College Saturday afternoon at Lee Clement Arena.

  • The Mustangs (1-1) recorded the first shot of the game as freshman Ally Gibson fired a shot on net before senior Caitie Darosa was forced to come up with back-to-back saves.
  • Stevenson took three of the next four shots in the period before the Pilgrams (0-1) took the next five, all turned away by Darosa.
  • Midway through the period, New England College went on the power play but did not record a shot on net as one shot hit off the pipe while the second was blocked by senior Cierra Siemasko.
  • With 3:08 remaining in the period, the Mustangs went on the power play for the first time and scored on their third shot with 22 seconds left in the player advantage. Pirrello netted her first of the season on assists from senior Maddy Ricci and junior Rachel Grewette.
  • The visitors went back on the power play with 25 seconds remaining in the period.

  • The Mustangs started the second period with 1:35 on the power play and needed just 1:04 to find the back of the next as Wittman netted her second goal in as many days. Siemasko recorded the primary assist while Grewette picked up her second assist of the day.
  • Darosa made three consecutive saves early in the period to keep the Pilgrims off the board, including back-to-back saves on Erica Lissner.
  • At the 7:10 mark, Stevenson was whistled for its second penalty of the day but Darosa turned away all three shots.
  • Just 39 seconds after the Mustangs killed of their second penalty, Pirrello netted her second goal of the day on an assist from junior Allyson Barlow.
  • The visitors then went on the power play 2:06 later and put four shots on net but all four were saved by Ashley Castriotta.

  • Just 2:31 into the period, the Mustangs once again went on the power play but 29 seconds later, Stevenson was whistled for a penalty to force four-on-four action for 1:31. Darosa made a pair of saves before adding a third on the Pilgrims power play.
  • The Mustangs defense killed off back-to-back penalties, including 10 seconds of five-on-three. Darosa recorded four saves on the kill.
  • With 2:53 remaining in regulation, Storck netted a goal on assists from Wittman and Pirrello.

  • New England College outshot Stevenson, 30-28, including 12-6 in the third period.
  • The Mustangs finished 2-for-6 on the power play and killed off all six penalties.
  • The Pilgrims held a slight 34-33 advantage in face-offs. Sophomore Trinity Barcless went 7-for-12 from the face-off dot.
  • Darosa finished with 30 saves in her first start of the season to earn her ninth career shutout.
  • The Mustangs finished with six blocked shots, including a pair by Siemasko.

  • Stevenson returns to action on Friday, November 2 when the Mustangs host a a two-game series versus Manhattanville in both United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) and Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
