Mustangs Score 11 Straight Goals, Cruise to an 18-6 Victory Over Ohio Wesleyan

CLERMONT, Fla. - Stevenson women's lacrosse seniors Marissa Meiklejohn and Leah Warner combined for eight goals and seven assists while junior Kathryn Merrick added four goals as the Mustangs scored 11 of the final 12 goals en route to an 18-6 victory over Ohio Wesleyan Tuesday at National Training Center.

The Mustangs (3-4), who scored a season-high 18 goals, wasted no time as Merrick scored just 30 seconds into the contest before Meiklejohn added a tally less than a minute later.

Following a goal by the Battling Bishops (2-1) to cut their deficit to one, Warner added two unassisted tallies broken up by an unassisted goal by Merrick. Warner totaled four goals in the first half while Merrick had two.

Freshman Olivia Monteiro also scored twice in the half, both assisted by Meiklejohn before junior Amanda LeGar totaled her lone point of the day with a goal with just 10 seconds remaining as the Mustangs led 10-5 at the break.

Stevenson outscored Ohio Wesleyan 8-1 in the second half with the lone Battling Bishop goal coming with just 1:03 remaining in the game.

Sophomore Shelby Walter finished with one goal and one assist while fellow classmate Tori Wagner added her seventh goal of the season.

Merrick and senior Mandy Marston, who also tallied a goal, each grabbed a game-high four draw controls while junior Meg Gill had a game-high four ground balls.

Stevenson concludes its three-game spring break road trip on Thursday, March 13 when the Mustangs take on Dickinson beginning at 9:00 a.m.
