CLERMONT, Fla. - Stevenson women's lacrosse senior Mandy Marston tied her career-high with four goals while senior Leah Warner totaled five points as the Mustangs defeated No. 20 Dickinson 11-8 Thursday at National Training Center in Florida.
The Mustangs (4-4) won their third-straight game and defeated a ranked team for the first time since Apr. 17, 2013 when they defeated No. 14 Messiah, 13-8.
For the second-straight game, Stevenson scored in the first minute of the game as junior Kathryn Merrick scored 47 seconds into the contest. The team would jump out to a 3-0 lead in the first 1:51 after goals by Marston and sophomore Tori Wagner.
However, the Red Devils (5-1) outscored the Mustangs 5-2 the rest of the half as the two teams were tied at five at the break.
The two teams traded goals in the first 5:28 of the second half before three-straight goals by Marston broke a 7-7 tie. Warner assisted on two of the goals.
A free-position goal by Maddy Siebold cut Dickinson's deficit to two with 1:16 remaining in the second half but sophomore Jordan Poretto won the ensuing draw control as the Mustangs mantained possession for the remainder of the game.
Junior Leanne Bittner totaled a season-high 13 saves, including eight in the second half as her counterpart JoJo Auerbach finished with 10.
Warner finished with two goals and three assists while Merrick totaled two goals and one assist.
Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, March 22 when it travels to face Wittenberg in a non-conference contest beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Mustangs defeated the Tigers 13-10 a season ago.
