Murphy Nets Five Goals in Mustangs 15-5 Victory Over Alvernia

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's lacrosse freshman Caroline Murphy recorded six points on five goals and one assist while junior Mack Ferguson totaled 10 saves for the fifth time this season as the Mustangs posted a 15-5 MAC Commomwealth victory over Alvernia Wednesday afternoon at Mustang Stadium.

  • The Mustangs (7-3, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth) scored three goals in a 53 second span, including a pair by Murphy just 19 seconds apart.
  • The trio of junior Carly Bowes and freshmen Maddie Zeller and Lan Le Crotty all scored unassisted goals in the opening ten minutes.
  • Senior Dana Stevens netted the first of two first half goals on an assist by Lindsay Seipp before Bowes made it 8-0 in favor of the hosts.
  • The Golden Wolves (3-8, 0-3 MAC Commonwealth) got on the board at the 6:47 mark, scoring on the player advantage.
  • After a goal by Alvernia with 3:56 remaining in the opening half, freshman Tea Ferrara scored a pair of unassisted goal to give Stevenson a 10-2 lead at the break.

  • The Golden Wolves opened the second half with a goal before the Mustangs responded with four straight, including three by Murphy. Seipp assisted on all three of Murphy's goals.
