ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Stevenson women's soccer team was picked to finish fifth, the same position the Mustangs finished a season ago, in the 2018 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Preseason Poll announced on Thursday. The poll was voted upon by the leagues coaches.
Despite falling in double overtime a season ago, 15-time champion Messiah was the unanimous pick to win the conference, receiving 64 points and all eight first place votes. Defending champion, Arcadia, was picked to finish second with 57 points while Lebanon Valley rounded out the top three.
The Mustangs have advanced to the conference tournament in five of their six seasons in the league. Stevenson advanced to the title game in 2012, 2013 and 2014, winning the title in 2014. The team made it to the semifinals in 2015 and 2016.
Stevenson opens the 2018 season on Friday, August 31 versus Rochester (N.Y.) at the William Smith Invitational beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Mustangs open MAC Commonwealth play on Saturday, September 29 versus defending champion Arcadia.
