Elizabethtown Scores Twice Late, Mustangs Fall on Road, 2-1

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Elizabethtown scored twice in a 1:22 span late in the contest before senior Marissa Inglisa found the back of the net in the 84th minute, but it wasn't enough as the Stevenson women's soccer team dropped a non-conference decision, 2-1, Saturday evening at Ira R. Herr Field.

  • Both teams recorded a shot on net through the opening five minutes of the contest, with each goalie making a save.
  • Junior Keegan Caffrey came up with another save in the 15th minute on a low shot to the left post.
  • The Mustangs (1-3-1) responded with back-to-back shots, but both shots by junior Allison Arters and Inglisa were high.
  • Caffrey came up with another two saves in the 23rd and 25th minutes on low shots by Lydia Lawson.
  • Inglisa put a shot on frame in the 32nd minute but it was save by Trinity Soto.
  • Caffrey made three saves on the final 10 minutes while another Blue Jay shot hit off the crossbar.
  • Junior Bridget Heist also recorded a shot on net in the final five minutes.

  • The teams traded the first four shots of the half, with all four off target.
  • The Blue Jays (3-1-1) recorded six consecutive shots over 10 minutes, with Caffrey stopping all three that were on target.
  • Senior Brianna Christie fired a shot on net, the visitors first shot in nearly 17 minutes of play.
  • Elizabethtown got on the scoreboard in the 75th minute as Lawson scored to the low left corner.
  • Just 1:22 later, Lawson doubled the hosts lead after converting a penalty kick.
  • Inglisa and freshman Emily Rusk recorded shots on net in the 76th and 78th minutes, respectively but Soto kept the hosts lead at two.
  • In the 84th minute, Inglisa got the visitors back within one on an assist from senior Alayna Roesener.

  • Elizabethtown outshot Stevenson, 24-12, including 13-7 in shots on net.
  • The Blue Jays also held a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
  • It is the second goal of the season for Inglisa, with both goals assisted by Roesener.
  • Caffrey finished with a season-high 12 saves.
