Women's Tennis Competes at ITA Regional

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Stevenson University women's tennis team competed at the ITA Regional Tournament hosted by the University of Mary Washington on Saturday.

Kelsi Mentzer reached the semifinals of the D singles bracket as the No. 3 seed.  After defeating Hayley Ashford of Randolph 8-0 and Shelby Knafo of Muhlenberg 8-1 in the quarterfinals, she fell to Brooke Simonson of Catholic 8-3 in the semifinals.

A pair of players picked up wins in the C singles draw.  Jenna Skove downed Alyssa Sewell 8-6 in the round of 16 before falling in a tiebreaker to 9-8 (4) to Jordan Schaefer of Salisbury in the quarterfinals.  Megan Waskiewicz topped Alexis Culley of Sweet Briar 8-2 in her opening match before falling to Muhlenberg's Caroline Armknecht 8-3 in the quarterfinal round.

Waskiewicz and Kirstyn Davidson also won in the opening round of the C doubles draw, downing Knafo and Armknecht 8-3 before falling to Catholic's Simonson and Lauren Edwards 8-3.

Christina Endy won her opening match in the E singles bracket, winning 8-3 over Rose Glantz of Muhlenberg before bowing out to Southern Virginia's Audrey McBride 8-2.
