Dioses Wins Two Events at River Hawks Opener

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Senior Lauren Dioses took first place in the weight throw and the shot put as the Stevenson women's indoor track and field team opened its season at the Susquehanna River Hawk Opener at the Garrett Center Friday night.

Dioses took first in the weight throw with a 14.78-meter toss, while in the shot put she won with a throw of 11.29 meters, which came on her final throw.  Her shot put throw was a career-best.

Allison Bishop finished third in the weight throw with a 13.26-meter effort, while Kiarra Nowell was sixth at 12.10 meters.  Nowell was also fourth in the shot put with a throw of 10.66 meters.

Freshman Mikhayla Sabo was also victorious for the Mustangs as she took first in the mile run with a time of 5:34.70. 

Junior Kimberly Hammond was first in the 60-meter dash finals with a time of 8.16 seconds.  Sophomore Ryley Hinson also reached the 60-meter dash finals and placed fourth with a time of 8.41 seconds.  Hammond was also second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.27 seconds.

Sophomore Rachel Panek finished third in both the long jump (5.17 meters) and the 60-meter hurdles (9.48 seconds) and was fifth in the high jump with a 1.53-meter leap.

In the 3000-meter run, Emily Gates was second with a school-record time of 10:54.69, while CJ Morris placed fifth with a time of 11:46.28.

The Stevenson women's indoor track and field team is now idle until Sunday, January 13, when the Mustangs travel to Shenandoah University for the Wilkins Center Invitational.
