Rega, Bishop Lead Mustangs in Final Tune-Up Before MAC Championships

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Seniors Allison Bishop and Jess Rega turned in solid performances at the Susquehanna University Invitational, which is the Mustangs' final tune-up before the MAC Championships.

Bishop had a top toss of 15.85m in the weight throw to take third overall in the event. Bishop's season-best toss of the season (16.12m) is currently tops in the MAC, Mideast region and is tied for 19th in Division III.

Rega placed second in the shot put with a throw 13.02m, while junior Danika Ani took third with an 11.96. Rega's season-best throw of 13.05m, which occured at the Bison Open on January 26, is second in the MAC and region. 

In the Distance Medley Relay, the Mustang squad took third overall with a 13:03.50. Sophomore Emily Gates clocked a 19:58.24 in the 5000 to take third overall, while freshman Mikhayla Sabo placed fifth in the 3000 with an 11:17.02. 

Sophomore Jaleah Sydnor placed fifth in the 200 with a 28.10, while freshman Ashlynne Raby took ninth in the 60 with an 8.27.

The 4x200m relay team placed fifth overall with a 1:53.46.

Senior Kelly Winklbauer took eighth in the 800 with a 2:26.81.

The Mustangs, who are ranked fifth in the Mideast region, compete next in the two-day Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Lehigh, starting on Friday, February 22.
