ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Stevenson University women's indoor track and field team was placed third in the Middle Atlantic Conference pre-championship coaches' poll released on Tuesday ahead of this weekend's championship at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. The Mustangs, who finished second at last year's indoor championship, totaled 124 points and earned one first place vote to be slotted behind co-favorites Messiah and Misericordia, who each tallied 135 points and six first place votes.
Eastern (111) and Widener (98) rounded out the top five.
The MAC Championship opens Friday, February 22 at Rauch Fieldhouse on Lehigh's campus and concludes Saturday. Day passes for adults are $5 (Friday) and $7 (Saturday), while all-session passes are available for $10. Student prices are $2, $4 and $5, with children under 6 free for both sessions. The Mustangs enter the weekend with a total of six top three performances in the conference this season. In the weight throw, Allison Bishop has the conference's top toss at 16.12 meters, followed by Lauren Dioses (14.78 meters) with the third-best effort. In the shot put, Stevenson has four of the top seven performances to date, led by Jess Rega's 13.05 meter throw, the second-best mark by a MAC competitor this winter.
Kimberly Hammond is slotted second in the long jump (5.60 meters) and also owns the third-best 60-meter dash time in the conference (8.09 seconds) set back in November. Kelly Winklbauer has the third-best mile run in the MAC (5:14.16).
