Women's Indoor Track and Field Has Four Named All-Region

NEW ORLEANS – A total of four members of the Stevenson University women's indoor track and field team were named to the USTFCCCA Mideast All-Region team announced earlier this week.

Three members of the throws group, seniors Allison Bishop and Jess Rega, along with junior Danika Ani, were honored, with Bishop honored in the weight throw and Ani and Rega in the shot put.  Junior Kimberly Hammond was also recognized in the long jump.

The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams.

Bishop finished with the No. 2 mark in the region in the weight throw with a toss of 16.12 meters at the Bison Open on January 25.  Rega and Ani both posted their All-Region marks in the shot put at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship.  Rega had the No. 3 mark in the region (13.25 meters) while Ani had the fourth-best mark (12.45 meters).

Hammond qualified for this weekend's NCAA Division III Championship in the long jump, posting a leap of 5.68 meters at this past weekend's AARTFC Championshop for the Mideast's third-best effort.
