Mustangs Move Past York, Scranton, Improve to 5-0

YORK, Pa. - The Stevenson University women's volleyball team remained unbeaten as it swept a tri-match hosted by York College Saturday afternoon.  The Mustangs blanked the host Spartans 3-0, then notched a 3-1 win over Scranton.

  • The Mustangs defeated the Royals (3-2) by scores of 25-17, 25-22, 22-25, 25-18.
  • Leftridge registered 12 kills on .265 hitting and added four blocks.
  • Prokic recorded nine kills, hitting .353, and had four blocks.
  • Baily added seven kills, while Straub hit .462 and added five blocks.
  • Pellini posted 17 digs.
  • Dangel finished with 14 assists, 11 digs and five service aces.
  • Nightwine handed out 18 assists.
  • Stevenson hit .278 as a squad, with Scranton hitting at a .240 clip. 

  • Prokic moved into second place in program history in total blocks with 334.  She sits 22 behind program record holder Alex Mercer, who had 356 from 2007-10.
  • Straub is hitting .647 this season with 22 kills on 34 attempts and 0 hitting errors.
  • The third set against Scranton was the first the Mustangs dropped all season.
  • Stevenson had a season-high nine blocks against the Royals.

  • Stevenson opens MAC Commonwealth play on Wednesday, September 11 when it travels to Albright for a 7 pm match.
  • The Mustangs home opener is set for Friday, September 13 against Dickinson at 6 pm at Owings Mills Gymnasium.  The match kicks off a nine-match homestand.
