Gates Sets School Record, Mustangs Win Don Cathcart Invite

SALISBURY, Md. - Junior Emily Gates clocked a program-record 6k time of 21:22.26 to take first overall at the Don Cathcart Invitational, hosted by Salisbury. Gates, who now has two victories on the season, won the race by over 35 seconds. The Mustangs took first overall in the team standings with a team score of 47. This was Stevenson's first team victory at the Cathcart Invitational. Every Mustang runner clocked a personal best on the flat and fast course at Winter Place Park. 

Freshman Peyton Arbour took sixth place overall with a 22:15.26, while senior Kelly Winklbauer clocked a 22:18.69 to take seventh.

Sophomore Mikhayla Sabo picked up a top-15 finish, taking 12th overall with a 22:32.18.

Senior Achol Odolla, who placed 21st, completed the course in 23:25.97 to solidify Stevenson's winning team score.

Senior Cassandra Morris crossed the finish line in 23:34.69, while freshman Mary Gorman turned in a 23:40.33. 

Freshmen Abby Lizewski, Maryam Al Naseri and Emily Brefo ran times of 24:26.29, 24:58.28 and 25:23.77, respectively. 

The Mustangs will look to continue their success this season at the Rowan Inter-Region Border Battle on Saturday, October 19 at 11:00 a.m.
