Gates Takes 11th at Rowan Inter-Region Border Battle

LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Junior Emily Gates took 11th overall out of 224 runners with a 6k time of 21:37.7 at the Rowan Inter-Region Border Battle. Gates, who was named MAC Runner of the Week for her program-record setting performance at the Don Cathcart Invitational on October 5 (1st/133, 21:22.26), has finished in the top-11 in four-straight races. 

The Mustangs, who earned their first Mideast regional ranking this week (#9), finished 10th out of 27 schools with a score of 309. A total of 10 regionally-ranked teams competed at the meet.

Sophomore Mikhayla Sabo clocked a 6k time of 22:55.7 to finish 48th overall, while freshman Peyton Arbour crossed the line in 23:10.9 to finish 62nd.

Seniors Kelly Winklbauer and Achol Odolla turned in times of 23:52.9 and 24:12.2 to complete the team score for Stevenson.

Freshmen Mary Gorman and Maryem Naseri ran times of 24:27.5 and 25:50.1, respectively.

Genny Corcoran and SUNY Geneseo won the individual title with a time of 20:24.9, while Hopkins won the team title with a team score of 26. 

The Mustangs compete next at the LVC Last Chance Run Fast Meet, held at the Union Canal Tunnel Park, on Friday, October 25 at 4:30 p.m. This race is Stevenson's final tune-up before the MAC Championships.
