Gates Sets School Mark with Second-Place Finish at MAC Championships, Mustangs Finish Program-Best Third

FREDERICK, Md. - Junior Emily Gates finished a program-best second overall at the MAC Championships, hosted by Hood, with a time of 21:42.9. Gates, who earned All-MAC first team honors, finished just 8.6 seconds behind first-place Keri Jones of Lebanon Valley. Gates now has three top-five finishes on the year. 

The Mustangs finished third overall in the team standings with a team score of 82, which also sets a new school mark for highest finish in a conference championship.

Sophomore Mikhayla Sabo earned first team honors after taking 10th overall with a 6k time of 22:44.9. 

Both Kelly Winklbauer (17th) and freshman Peyton Arbour (18th) earned spots on the all-conference second team with times of 23:24.9 and 23:30.4.

Completing the team score for Stevenson was senior CJ Morris, who clocked a time of 24:11.6 to take 36th overall. 

Freshman Mary Gorman and senior Achol Odolla crossed the line in 24:21.6 and 25:00.7, respectively. 

Freshmen Maryan El Naseri and Emily Brefo finished with times of 25:22.2 and 26:58.6 for the Mustangs.

Messiah won the team championship by six points over Lebanon Valley with a team score of 71, giving them six team titles. 

The Mustangs compete next at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships, hosted by Muhlenberg, on Saturday, November 16 at 12:00 p.m.
